Problems with smiles.
#1

Hello,
I've just installed commentics script and started to translate it.
And, at the the beginning, I've faced the problem with smiles.
Please check this URL
http://www.the-x-files.ru/on-line/s01/s01e01/

If you'll point mouse to the place, where smiles pictures should be, you can see the URL at properties section.
I get this:
Quote:http://www.the-x-files.ru/%22http://www....ng.gif/%22

However, at admin panel, the URL to smile is right.
(see the 2-nd screenshot)

What could be the possible problem?
And how to fix it?

Thank you for help.

I've just turned off the "Approval" and it's working.
I can post messages with smiles without a problem.

Hi,

It seems to be a problem with Magic Quotes being enabled on your server.

However what's strange is that it appears to be enabled only inside your admin panel and not on the frontend. So when you edit the comment in the admin panel to approve it, Magic Quotes is adding the backslashes (\) to the comment which is affecting the display of the smiley images.

This FAQ may help:

Ok, thanks for help.
I rent VPS so it won't be a problem managing it.
I'll respond as soon as I'll get to home and make necessary changes.

Something else here...

Did you noticed the URL of the smiles?
Two times, main domain was printed http://www.the-x-files.ru/ - and this thing "%22h" - I don't know where it came from.

Hi, I'm having the same issue, and magic_quotes_gpc is turned off in the server (as shown in attachment below). This is the code that's showing when I edit a comment with a smilie:
Code:
This is a test comment <img src="\&quot;http://lady-angel.com/comments/images/smilies/grin.gif\&quot;" title="\&quot;\\&quot;Grin\\&quot;\&quot;" alt="\&quot;Grin\&quot;" none="\&quot;\&quot;" vertical-align:="\&quot;\&quot;" bottom="\&quot;\&quot;" width="\&quot;20\&quot;" height="\&quot;20\&quot;" />
