"Already Submitted" after Deletion
#1

Hi, (sorry if this is in the wrong forum wasn't sure where to post!)

Is this a bug or issue or should this happen?

1) I left a comment to test something...
2) Deleted the comment via admin > comments
3) Tried posting it again..
4) Error (below)

Quote:Sorry but 2 errors were found when processing your comment.
Please correct these errors and submit the form again:

The comment entered has already been submitted. Please submit a new comment.
There was an issue with your notification request. You are already subscribed.

as i deleted the comment shouldn't it allow someone (or myself) to be able to leave that comment again and shouldn't un-subscribe them as i deleted the comment too?

Cheers,
Thank You.

Hi,

Yes I suppose it could be considered a (minor) bug. What is happening is that when a user posts a comment, their message is stored in their browser session. This is checked the next time that they try to post a comment to make sure that they have not refreshed the page and accidentally re-submitted it. Due to the message being retrieved from the session, it doesn't make any difference to the script if the comment has been deleted from the database or not, because it doesn't get it from there.

Regarding the second part, I don't think deleting a comment should unsubscribe the user who posted it. The subscribers are stored separately from the comments so it's possible to delete a comment and not the subscriber, or to delete a subscriber but not the comment.

Have you completed the interview?
