What can I do to cure this?

Which Commentics version and PHP version are you on?
When did it start happening?
What changed around the time it started happening?
Which email client are you using? (e.g. Gmail)
Can you try receiving the email in a different email client?

When did it start happening? right from the start
What changed around the time it started happening? nothing
Which email client are you using? (e.g. Gmail) webmail
Can you try receiving the email in a different email client? have tried 2 with the same effect

right from the start Do you mean since 2017, or since you upgraded to 4.5.1, or since you did a fresh install of 4.5.1?
webmail Can you be more specific?

If you go to Settings -> Email -> Setup, are you using PHP or SMTP?
If SMTP, which service are you using?

Can you send the Email Setup test to my email address: support "the at symbol here" commentics.com
Make sure to send it from the Email Setup area of Commentics i.e. don't forward me the one you've already received.
That way I can inspect the original headers of the email.
