I'm back to version 4.2 and going through everything again step by step and testing. If I can reconstruct the error I will write it.

I redid the update step by step. Uploaded folders individually from 4.4 to 4.5...
Then the install also worked.
Apparently one or two files were broken on the first try. Now everything seems to be working. Thanks for the support.

Now I'm dealing with the "Read more" extension, which unfortunately doesn't work despite being activated. But I'll get that under control.

That's good. For the Read More extension, you'll need to install the latest one from the Client Area.

I did it, just downloaded it yesterday. Unfortunately it doesn't work yet. If there is any tip, that would be great.
Does the extension work partly via CSS? That would be an explanation since I have my own CSS.

Yes the module loads its own stylesheet file:
/frontend/view/default/stylesheet/css/autoload/read_more.css

And its own javascript file:
/frontend/view/default/javascript/autoload/read_more.js

So you should see those in your web page's HTML source code.

Also make sure to clear all of your cache if you haven't already, in Tools -> Clear Cache.

Unfortunately it doesn't work, not even with the original CSS and readmore.css
Cache is also cleared.
But it's not that bad, everything else works thanks to your help.
