Issue w users not being able to upload avatars
#1

Hello!

Thank you for making such an easy to use comment thingy.
I've been using it on my webcomic website, but I've been having some trouble allowing users to upload their own photos as an avatar. I would prefer the self-upload option as, since it is such a silly website, I anticipate that people would like to add more silly profile pictures than use their own professional face (and that seems to be my understanding of how Gravatar is meant to be used.)

I have browsed this forum for answers and am seeing that users should be able to change their profile picture by accessing their user page—but I am not sure how to get to the user page? Under Settings-Layout-Comments-Avatar I have the box "user link" which, should make a link to someones user page accessible via the comments section of the website, but once I checked that box nothing seemed to change. I, as an admin, don't know how to access my own user page and change my own profile picture.

I do not have a login/user account anywhere else on my website. I tried to implement a forum using PhPBB, but I couldn't figure out how to filter all the spam so it's basically nonfunctional (I might give up and replace that bit of my website with something else.) I think that some users HAVE been able to upload avatars somehow, but when I ask them, they say that they don't remember. So I think it's possible?

Sorry if the answer to this is super obvious. I know very little about webdev but I am trying very hard I swear. Any help would be really appreciated.
My website is Politeandgood.com if you want to take a look.

I figured out how to make people able to get to a link to change their profile picture. I apparently had "link days" set to 1. i changed it to 999 so the link to the change user profile picture would display for many days after the first comment. But now I have another problem...In order to have these changes displayed on my computer, I had to clear my browser cache and now my computer doesn't recognize me as a previous commenter and wont let me edit my own comments and I don't know how to get it to recognize me...

Hello, if you cleared your browser cache, that most likely cleared your session which Commentics uses to recognise previous users. Commentics intentionally doesn't have a login system so it relies on the user's session being there after they post a comment. Also, sessions were chosen for this because they're temporary, as I've never liked the idea of someone editing their comment long after it's posted and other people have already replied to it. As you're an admin though, you can of course still edit your comments in the admin area.

Have you completed the interview?
