ajax comment submisson
#1

What would it take to convert this to submit via ajax?

I think the big thing that lets this system down is the clunkiness of the submit.

Don't get me wrong, great job all round, but this would just take it to the next level.

I agree. At some point I'm going to focus on the Web 2.0 aspect of the script, and part of that will involve seeing which bits can be further 'ajaxified'. Changing the submit comment action will be a big task, but I'll definitely have a go at it. However there are a few fundamental things that I need to work on first such as the database functions. Once I get to the Web 2.0 stage, other improvements I want to look at are:
  1. Using jQuery UI for the JavaScript prompts.
  2. Using a lightbox for the Terms/Privacy links.
  3. Making the success/approve box collapse after a few seconds.
  4. Submit the average rating by clicking on the stars.
  5. Ajax for the pagination and sort by features.

Forget Jquery UI.

Twitter bootstrap is a much more rounded and useful toolbox.

I would suggest using this to revamp look and feel and get instant results.

Easy to use and very very functional. Includes modals, tooltips etc - all the stuff you need to get the system up to speed in terms of a "Web2" upgrade.

What kind of time frame are we looking at to ajaxify this?

i really want this, so I'm thinking of getting one of our devs to do it it anyway. once done, I'll post files for you. That might free you up to work on bootstrapping the system Smile

Thanks, I will check out Bootstrap.

This tutorial looks helpful for submitting via ajax:
